This series is my homage to the Japanese artist Mori Yūzan, whose graphic collections Ha Bun Shu (波紋集) were published in Kyoto in 1919 — after his passing. Known as the Wave and Ripple Collection, these books present hundreds of wave and ripple patterns in the Nihonga style.
Originally created as design references for Japanese artisans — especially those working with swords, lacquerware, and netsuke — these forms now read like pure graphic poetry: minimal, rhythmic, and deeply connected to nature.
I adapted these historical motifs into contemporary artworks and prints, preserving their spirit while reinterpreting composition, color, and context. These are not copies, but a creative dialogue across a century — where tradition meets a modern visual language.
Prints from this series are available for purchase, licensing, or custom adaptation to fit your interior project.
